Lisa Di Palma dies following the crash in Fethiye

A tragic traffic accident in Fethiye has left a British family in mourning after 61-year-old Lisa Di Palma, who was on holiday in the resort town, died from severe injuries sustained in the crash.

Lisa Di Palma, described as a resident of East London, was reportedly struck by a fast-moving vehicle while trying to cross the road with her husband during the evening hours. The incident took place on August 6, 2025, and has drawn attention both in Turkey and in the UK.

Following the crash, Di Palma was first taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Muğla University Hospital for further treatment. Medical examinations reportedly found multiple fractures, internal bleeding and organ damage. Although there was brief hope during her treatment, her condition suddenly worsened and she later died despite all efforts to save her.

According to information shared as part of the investigation, the driver was allegedly found to have a blood alcohol level four times above the legal limit. It was also reported that investigators found no brake marks at the scene. The driver is expected to stand trial in Turkey.

The victim’s family has voiced concern over both the hospital process and the circumstances surrounding the crash. Lisa Di Palma was also said to have dedicated much of her life to children and amateur football. In order to honour her memory, a fundraising campaign has reportedly been launched.

The fatal incident has once again raised concerns over road safety and drunk driving, especially in areas frequently visited by foreign tourists.
